Introducing the 5-year India Tourist e-Visa

If you're a tourist planning to visit India for a trip and you want to travel to India in the long run, you can apply for a 5-year Indian Tourist e-Visa. The Indian Immigration Authority has recently made significant changes to their Tourist e-Visa policies to double the number of tourists visiting India, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. The tourism minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, has announced changes to the Indian Online Visa which increases the number of foreign tourists visiting India and work together towards that goal.

Starting from September 2019, the long-term 5-year Indian Tourist e-Visa has been made available for foreign travellers who wish to visit India multiple times over a five-year period.

Categories of Tourist e-Visa Available

1. Tourist e-Visa (30 Days): Valid for 30 days from the date of entry into India. This visa allows double entry during its validity period.
2. Tourist e-Visa (1 Year / 365 Days): Valid for 365 days from the date the e-Visa is granted. This visa permits multiple entries to India within the validity period.
3. Tourist e-Visa (5 Years / 60 Months): Valid for 5 years from the date the e-Visa is granted. This visa also allows multiple entries during its validity.

Note: The Tourist e-Visas mentioned above cannot be extended or converted into any other type of visa.

Stay Notice for 5-Year Tourist e-Visa

• For all nationalities (except the USA, UK, Canada, and Japan): Continuous stay allowed up to 90 days per visit.
• For citizens of the USA, UK, Canada, and Japan: Continuous stay allowed up to 180 days per visit.

The 5-year Tourist e-Visa is typically issued within 96 hours; however, it is recommended to apply at least 7 days before your scheduled flight to India. Please note that all the Tourist e-Visas mentioned above are non-extendable and non-convertible.

What Do You Require to Get a 5-Year Tourist e-Visa?

If you’re planning to apply for a 5-year Indian Tourist e-Visa, there are a few essential requirements you must meet, including:

• A valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date of your first arrival in India.
• An active email address to receive updates and the approved e-Visa.
• A valid payment method, such as a debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc.), UnionPay, or a PayPal account for processing the visa fee.
